After a video of a retired teacher sexually assaulting a 10-year-old child went viral on social media, there has been a public outcry for swift action against the culprit. Following the FIR registered by the victim’s father, the Thari Mirwah police started their investigation.
The teacher had gone into hiding following these allegations but the police managed to capture him and have placed the man under arrest. He has been identified as Sarang Shar, who worked in a private tuition center for children in Khairpur Mirs Tehsil, Sindh.

The footage of this Grade-17 teacher’s heinous crime has sent shockwaves nationwide. The torture and abuse of the 10-year-old child was not an isolated incident, as Sarang Shar has been accused of raping 132 students, under the pretext of teaching them, throughout his tenure.
There has also been claims that this was a sex ring as Sarang Shar had been grooming these children for group sex. None of these innocent children could come forward as the perpetrator had videos to blackmail them into submission.

Humanity is lost. According to surveys, 9 to 12 child abuse cases are reported daily in the country. There had been complaints against Sarang’s activities but it took a viral video, and an abuse of 132 innocent children, for law enforcement to take notice. This is a grim reminder of how we as a society have failed to protect our children.
