An unfortunate incident.

The rise in cases in gaming addiction has been a cause for concern, especially amongst teenagers. Following that comes the death of a teenage boy. The young 16 year old reportedly lost his life after playing PUBG for several days on end, without even having any food or water.

Indian media reports that the young resident of Andhra Pradesh fell sick due to severe dehydration after a few days of playing the game. On finding out, his family rushed him to a private hospital in Eluru.

He also developed severe diarrhea and had to go through surgery but unfortunately, doctors were unable to save him.

CID Superintendent of Police (SP-Cyber Crimes) G.R. Radhika said,

“Cyber offenders will exploit children by offering online games. In some cases, they are taking minors into their control and are using them for illegal activities like drug peddling.”

She added,

“The CID is organizing a month-long awareness programme for students, parents, youth and the general public on different types of cyber crimes, including cyber stalking, bullying, honey traps, online prostitution, cyber grooming, e-commerce traps, job frauds, matrimony phishing, OTP frauds and other cyber offences.”

This isn’t the first instance where someone has lost their lives due to the addicting game. A 25-year-old man in January passed away due to brain stroke that was caused by playing PUBG for too long.

Although the game is quite popular, its addicting nature has also proved dangerous.
