Aima Baig Opens Up About Her Painful Loss [Video]

Aima Baig shot to fame as a singer in 2015. Because of her powerful vocals, she soon became a household name for anyone who’s a fan of music. Although her cheery public demeanor and sweet voice may hardly reveal it, Baig has had to deal with some painful moments.

On Nida Yasir’s Good Morning Pakistan, the singer talked about seeing her mother struggle with cancer and treatment before finally losing her life to the disease 3 years ago.

Aima Baig spoke of her mother fondly as she recalled how she was a major inspiration for her singing career. Growing up as a younger sibling, she would get time alone with her mom at home and would see her singing and dancing along to western music such as ABBA. This is how Aima initially started singing as well.

She also shared that her mother was the one who took a stand for her when her family initially did not.

She revealed that her mother passed away from cancer and opened up about how it feels to have survived such heartbreak.

“My mother was a cancer patient and she fought with the illness for six years. She was extremely brave an never let her children feel like she suffering,” shared the ‘Malang’ hitmaker.

“I saw her go through chemotherapy and losing her hair. I wish I could do something for cancer patients and save at least one life,” she said.

Reflecting on the loss of her mother, Baig added,

“Even though its been three years since her death, it still feels so recent and as you grow up you feel the loss more and realise the importance of having a mother in your life.”

A few years ago, Aima collaborated with her uncle Mubashir Lucman to raise awareness about cancer. They sang ‘Summer Wine’ for Shaukat Khanum Hospital’s charity drive.
