Fake News: British Blogger Anam Iqbal is Not the Motorway Rape Victim [Video]

Many accounts have been sharing these misleading videos.

Motorway Rape Case Fake Anam Iqbal

The motorway rape case made for a very sad state of affairs in Pakistan. There was widespread outrage and frustration against the authorities. While there have been many controversial debates over this case, the only silver lining (if it can even be called that) is that the media has respected the privacy of the victim and her family. However, just recently a video of a social activist was being shared on several platforms, with some netizens suggesting that she was the rape victim.

Anam Iqbal is a British lady who posts videos relating to social issues. She is a human rights activist who took it upon herself to spread awareness on the tragic incident that took place in Pakistan. However, some social media users mistook her words and further shared false rumors.

Here is the video that’s been making rounds on social media as ‘statements of the motorway rape case victim’:

The truth

The reality is that this lady posted the video to spread awareness about rape culture. Sadly, her words were taken out of context.

I am not the victim of the motorway incident. I was raising awareness on rape culture.
