Recently, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) have joined with Punjab police in their operation at the Rao Khan Wala village. According to a senior officer, the police were tipped off that the rapist, Abid Malhi, is present in the village.

The police have immediately deployed teams within a two-kilometer radius of the village. As part of an “old method” to draw the suspect out, police are picking up relatives of the wanted criminal. On Thursday, police ‘nabbed’ Abid Malhi’s brother, father, wife, and a minor daughter.

The suspect’s family is been harassed and interrogated for further information and also to keep the pressure on the wanted rapist. It remains to be seen if the police are able to track down Abid Malhi’s whereabouts.
