Former supermodel and actress Iman Ali has divided Pakistani social media with her stance on feminism and the gender pay gap. While there were some who applauded her views, there were others who felt that she is courting controversy by not having the right idea about what she’s speaking about.
On April, Iman Ali made headlines over her comments on feminism. The renowned model and actress had an interview with Iffat Omar regarding the current models. The Khuda Kay Liye star has had an illustrious career as an actress and is considered to be one of the most successful models of the showbiz industry.
Recently, her comments have sparked outrage on social media as people took to Twitter to engage in a heated debate about the supermodel’s controversial comments.
The controversy
During an interview with Iffat Omar, the former model was asked whether she believes in feminism or not. The Khuda Kay Liye star gave her thoughts on the concept, stating that feminism is about celebrating womanhood, but adding that it is being wrongly represented.
Iman stated that women are trying to be more like men, which, in her opinion, is not the definition of feminism.

She also shared her two cents on the gender pay gap debate, saying that a female actor demanding equal pay as her male counterpart is called ‘actorism’, not feminism.
“If a female actor demands the same fee as male actors, then that is actorism, not feminism. If you are as good as your male actor at your job, you deserve to be paid as much as your male actor.”
