‘Friends’ Star David Schwimmer Confirms that a Reunion is Underway

The long-awaited Friends reunion is finally happening! David Schwimmer, the man behind the epic science geek Ross Gellar just confirmed that that the cast will be taping the reunion episode soon.

For a long time, fans have been wanting to get a reunion episode. Even before the pandemic, speculations were made that the cast is working together for a special episode. However, soon after COVID-19 happened and everything went awry.

But now, David Schimmer has confirmed that the Friends reunion is soon hitting the screens. In an interview with SiriusXM’s Radio Andy, the actor revealed that the filming will soon begin.

 “It’s happening. Actually, in a little over a month I’m heading out to LA.”

He continued,

“So, finally, I mean, we figured out a way to film it safely and there’s going to be a portion of it that we filmed outside because of, you know, for safety protocols.”

The actor was also asked if it would be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, but he didn’t spill the tea and said,

“I can tell you it’s not Ellen, and it’s not Billy Crystal. I can tell you who it’s not, but that’ll take a while, probably.”

 

Earlier, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, HBO/HBO Max chief Casey Bloys revealed that filming for the TV special will begin this spring.

When asked about the status of the Friends reunion, he stated,

“The show will indeed see the six original stars reunite in person for a one-off TV event… The idea is that they would be together. The COVID situation has been complicated—not just for this, but for television production across the board…so we’re kind of dealing with that as it comes, but it will be this spring.”
