Indian Matchmaking premiered on Netflix in July 2020 and dominated the trends for several weeks but for all the wrong reasons. Though viewed widely, the reality show was deemed ‘problematic’ and and received a lot of backlash for propagating discrimination based on caste, skin color, and gender stereotypes and bringing out the worst of desi rishta culture. However, it is returning with a second season.
Netflix India announced the news yesterday with a picture of Sima aunty, who proudly introduces herself as ‘Sima Taparia from Mumbai’.
“Keep your Biodata ready because Sima aunty is returning with Season 2 of Indian Matchmaking.”
