Despite, there being no rationale behind why ‘bad women’ smoke, this stereotype persists. That’s something that starlet Zarnish Khan is calling out.
We’ve all heard the saying smoking is bad for a man’s health and a woman’s character. The Laaj actress shared how there’s an obvious class divide on the issue.
“I think cigarette smoking has become a cultural barrier in our society. The women from lower class are considered ok if they smoke, but when it comes to our society, for the middle and upper class it’s declared as a stigma. Cigarette smoking is bad for health for both men and woman.”
In a recent interview for ‘Momina’s Mixed Plate’, while talking about cigarette smoking in our society, Zarnish Khan mentioned that what our society needs is to change it’s mindset.
“In our country, people have built a mindset that if a girl is smoking, she will be declared as a characterless woman. We should change our mindset, it is totally wrong to assume someone characterless or anything just because that she’s smoking or the way she is dressed up. Sadly, we have this mindset in our society and it has become a cultural norm.”
