Six years after the release of Bollywood’s Sanam Teri Kasam was released, there’s now news of a sequel film.
Bollywood actor Harshvardhan Rane announced the sequel to the romantic film. Sanam Teri Kasam cast the Indian actor with Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane in its first one.
In a post on his Instagram, the Indian star announced;
“Sanam Teri Kasam 2 in 2022. YOU made it happen, yes you! #STK2.”
Word is that the sequel film will go floors in September-October this year. So what does that mean for the film’s original lead actress? Due to the political rift between India and Pakistan since the Pulwama attack and subsequent Balakot airstrikes in February 2020, the Pakistani actress could not have starred in the film.
The Indian film body, Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), has been reprimanding any in the biz who try to even remotely work with Pakistani artists.
Helmed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, Sanam Teri Kasam marked Mawra Hocane’s Bollywood debut. Meanwhile, the lead actor in the film was also a struggling artist. Previously in an interview, Harshvardhan opened up about his personal struggle.
“I come from a humble family. I ran away from home at the age of 15-16 with just Rs 200 in my pocket. So, I don’t really have that thing where I am writing cheques for charity. My mind works in that direction where I think of converting my possession for someone’s benefit. In the past, I have auctioned my outfits from films for charity — the money was used for orphan girls whose parents had died of HIV. During the lockdown, people were scrambling for medical resources, and I wanted to help them. So, I sold my bike. In retrospect, the bike had a purpose, because it helped many souls.”
