A viral scene from the drama serial Badshah Begum is eliciting much criticism. The scene features Jahan Ara and Roshan Ara in a milk bath.
Produced by Momina Duraid and Rafay Rashdi, the Hum TV drama revolves around a strong and powerful young woman Jahan Ara, portrayed by Zara Noor Abbas. This heiress to a ‘gaddi’, must contend with her brother Shahzeb, played by Farhaan Saeed, to become the next spiritual monarch.
Previously, a scene in the drama serial’s trailer showcasing Roshan Ara dancing with Bakhtiar (Ali Rehman Khan) in a club sparked severe criticism. People were offended by the idea of girls from the family of religious clerics going to the club with classmates. Additionally, the depiction of the consumption of alcohol had Netizens infuriated.
The Badshah Begum cast includes many big names such as Yasir Hussain, Ali Rehman, and Shahzad Nawaz. Written by Saji Gul, the series follows the power struggle between an extremely influential Peer’s family.
Meanwhile, Laapata director Khizer Idrees is at the helm of the project.
In the controversial drama scene, Zara Noor Abbas and Komal Meer are seen sitting in a milk bath where the whole female house help has gathered to give them a milk bath. The sight of the pool filled with milk alone was absurd.
Netizens slammed the show’s creators of the drama for portraying the sheer disgrace of milk which is ‘Rizq’.
Meanwhile, some took this moment to bring out their bigotry, by dubbing this a portrayal of ‘Hindu culture’.
