Many cricketers have rubbed shoulders with Bollywood celebs over the years. Some were even offered a chance to try their shot with roles. Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar is one of them.
Recently the Pakistani fast bowler revealed that he was offered a role in a Bollywood movie. The retired Pakistani cricketer revealed that he was offered a film with Bollywood star Imran Hashmi.
Given how we’ve never seen the sportsman on-screen he obviously didn’t take the role. In an interview with a foreign media agency, Shoaib Akhtar revealed that he was offered to play the lead role in the film ‘Gangster’. Later the central role went to Imran Hashmi.
Since the success of the film and how it catapulted Imran Hashmi into the spotlight, now the cricketer has second thoughts about his decision. He feels as though he should have taken the offer back then.
“Now I think I should have done that film.”
On the other hand, there have been rumors about a Bollywood biopic about the Pakistani sportsman as well. There was a lot of excitement over the news of a potential biopic based on the fast pacer.
Names like actress Saba Qamar and actor/singer Ali Zafar are tied to the ‘project’. Unfortunately, these were just rumors as the former cricketer’s business manager, Taha Sadaqat, took to Twitter to state that all these rumors are not true.
