Director Sarmad Khoosat attributed his critically acclaimed film Kamli to starlet Saba Qamar. He lauded the actress for doing an underwater scene in a water pond in winter for the film.

The Humsafar director emphasized how he is ‘indebted’ to the Baaghi actress for doing the scene in December.

In a recent interview, Sarmad Khoosat sang praises for Saba Qamar saying;

“We had shot the scene and had marked the location for the jib shoot but when it came the geezer stopped working.”

Apparently, the water was heated but the malfunctioning geiser prevented it from warming up. The Manto director even shared how he also dived into the cold pond to show moral support for Saba.

The water was too cold and he could not stay there for long. So, he jumped out. The Cheekh actress agreed to do it and she did it. That too in one take.

“A retake would have required, drying her up, doing hair, redoing the shots but thank God we got that in one take.”

Sarmad Khoosat also elaborated on the decision to cast the I Love You Bunty starlet for the film. He said that;

“The role of Hina required a solid actor for the portrayal of that character and Saba had that personality to do it, … I was sure it had to be star, no two ways about that as I knew this film required a certain amount of money to be produced so we needed a bankable star. To portray Hina’s emotional character, I don t think we had so many options. Saba’s lively eyes, lively eyebrows, her face, her body and when you see her on screen, you cannot see anywhere else.”

Directed by Sarmad Khoosat, the critically acclaimed Kamli is a story of love and loss. Amid the subject matter are the inherent weaknesses and conflicts of men and women, and female desire.
