As Pakistani cinema witnesses a boom with back-to-back releases after the eye of the pandemic (hopefully), we have even more great Pakistani films lined up for the coming months.

Although the two Eid festivals take on the bulk of the releases, the stride of cinematic releases will continue for the coming months.

What can we look forward to? Here’s a list of Pakistani films set to hit theaters in near future.

The Legend of Maula Jatt

Quite an expensive production and a much-anticipated film since 2019! The trailer for Lashari’s film

The Legend of Maula Jatt cast Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, and Mahira Khan as central characters. With Resham, Babar Ali, Faris Shah, and Ali Azmat in supporting roles. After a long legal battle, The Legend of Maula Jatt release date is now set for October 13th.

 

Tich Button

Another long-delayed film, Tich Button cast Farhan Saeed, Feroze Khan, Sonya Hussyn, and Iman Ali  in central roles. The film’s release date has been set for October, 28, 2022. Directed by Qasim Ali Mureed, the movie marks Urwa Hocane’s production debut.

Aasman Bolay Ga

Shoaib Mansoor is set to bring another film after another dry spell with Aasmaan Bolay Ga. After the teaser for Aasmaan Bolay Ga was unveiled, we’ve been waiting for the full length trailer.

Word is that he’s going to hit cinemas in November 2022. Set to be a patriotic film starring Emmad Irfani and Maya Ali, the movie revolves around the Pakistan Airforce, set in the time of the Balakot airstrikes.

 

Neelofar

Set to mark the reunion of Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan on our screens, Neelofar release date is still

Written by Ammar Rasool and produced by Qasim Mehmood, details of the movie are pretty hush hush. However, rumor has it that the movie will cast Mahira Khan as a blind woman.

The movie also cast Madiha Imam in a key role.

 

Abhi

Headlining with Kubra Khan and Gohar Mumtaz, the film Abhi is a romantic thriller. It’s even writterm by Gohar Mumtaz. With Asad Malik directing the project being produced by international UK based company Daniel Johnes.

Abhi also cast Saleem Sheikh, Usman Peerzada, Yasra Rizvi, Mahmood Aslam, Hina Bayat, Ehteshamud Din, and Asif Raza Mir.

Another Fawad Khan film, Money Back Guarantee release date is set for April 2023. This Faisal Qureshi directorial is a comedy starring Fawad Khan, Ayesha Omar, Hina Dilpazir, Ali Safina, Wasim Akram, Shayan Khan, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Gohar Rasheed, and Afzal Khan aka Jan Rambo.

 

Yaara Vey

Yaara Vey cast Sami Khan and Aleeze Nasser in a classic rom-com. Directed by Manish Pawarthe movie centers of the theme of opposites attracting, conflict in love, and messy love triangles.

Other cast members include Faizan Khwaja, Javed Shaikh, Marina Khan, and Ali Sikander, and has been produced by Beeline Productions. The Yaara Vey release date is slated for 16th September 2022.

 

Zarrar

Another Shaan Shahid patriotic film surrounding the theme of spyfare and counter intelligence. Zarrar cast Nadeem Baig, Kiran Malik, and Nayyer Ejaz. While the Zarrar release date is up in the air momentarily, rumor has it might be slated for release on 23rd September.

 

Shotcut

This Punjabi film cast Juggan Kazim, Gohar Rasheed, and Sana Fakhar in a fun-filled comedy. Written and directed by Abu Aleeha, the film has been produced by Javed Ahmed Kakepoto, Faheem Samejo, and Sufi Hashim Bin Harris under the banner of KK Films Production.

Shotcut also cast Naseem Vicky, Ahmed Hassan Marhoom Ahmed Bilal, Nawaz Anjum, Honey Albela, and debutant Alia Khan, among many others. The Shotcut release date is said to be 2nd September.

 

Doda

Also slated for release on 2nd September, is this Baloch feature film also suffered delays due to the pandemic.

Doda follows the story of a small-town boxer and the challenges he must overcome and suffering he must endure. This will also be the first Baloch film in Pakistan since 1976 and is key for representation.

 

Carma

Carma cast Adnan Siddiqui, Osama Tahir, Zhalay Sarhadi, Naveen Waqar, and Paras Masrorr. Based on the trailer this is a film surrounding mystery, intrigue, drama, and thrill. Touching upon various taboo themes Kashan Admani directed and produced the film.

The movie is slated for release on 2nd September release across Pakistan

 

Joyland

After winning big at Cannes and being celebrated worldwide, Joyland is set to hit theaters in Pakistan.

 

Additionally, the previously censored Javed Iqbal biopic with Yasir Hussain, and Sarmad Khoosat’s much-awaited Zindagi Tamasha are also set to be screened in theaters.
