Khawar Kiani, a renowned poetess, lyricist, academician, author of several highly acclaimed books, and the mother of iconic singer-actor Hadiqa Kiani, passed away yesterday.
The Raqeeb Se star’s management shared the news on her Instagram account with a detailed note and asked for privacy for the family in this distressing time.

Khawar Kiani was a well-known poet who wrote famous hit songs such as Boohey Barian, Intehai Shauq, Aas Pass, and the Cricket World Cup 1999 anthem.
Hadiqa Kiani is a famous singer, songwriter, actress, television presenter, and philanthropist in the Pakistan showbiz industry. Besides Urdu and Punjabi, she has sung many songs in Pashto, and even in French.
In 2006, Kiani received Pakistan’s fourth-highest civilian award, the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, for her contributions to the field of music.
The Boohey Barian singer did a lot of work for the flood affectees after the disastrous flash floods in Pakistan. She considers it her civic duty to help the flood victims without a political agenda.
The 50-year-old is also providing tents, medicines, and food to the people of Balochistan who lost everything in the recent devastating monsoon floods.
The songstress has also started a mission with contractors for rebuilding houses in three different villages — Rabbi, Chattar, and Tamboo.
