This Pakistani Groom Wore the Biggest Cash Garland You’ve Ever Seen! [Video]

Can you count the number of notes used in it?

A Pakistani groom has gone viral on social media for his gigantic haar (cash garland) at his wedding. Everyone likes to show off at their wedding but this man took it to a whole new level!

Recently, a wedding photographer by the name of Aliya posted a video clip of a groom wearing a massive, eye-popping cash haar. People on social media are in awe of the groom wearing possibly the biggest cash garland in existence. The garland, which is probably made up of Rs. 10 notes, is too big for the groom to carry himself and three of his groomsmen were tasked with holding it up for him.

The ridiculously huge garland is big enough to be a bed cover, as one netizen pointed out.

Here are a few other hilarious reactions to the giant cash garland:

Status Symbol

Desi weddings are usually a pompous display of extravagance. Both the families of the bride and groom go on an ostentatious spending spree to one-up each other.

Of course, when a wedding dress isn’t enough to get people to notice how much money you’ve wasted, the only other option is to wear all your money.

One of the most famous ceremonial props in desi weddings is a haar made of rupee notes. The cash garland signifies respect for the ‘prized’ groom in local culture. It is considered to be a status symbol of pride and exaltation for many.

Aside from weddings, the cash garland is given to pilgrims at the airports by their families. Other times, popular politicians are given such garlands during a rally or jalsa.
