The ‘Worst Father of the Year’ award goes to Yeezy as he celebrated his 46th birthday with his daughter North West by eating sushi served on top of a naked woman.
The blacklisted rapper also invited his rumored wife Bianca Censori to his birthday bash. Video clips from the event went viral on social media, sparking outrage online with Twitterati calling out Kanye for being a horrible father and objectifying women.
Videos and photos shared on Twitter revealed the unconventional sushi presentation chosen by West. Instead of using traditional serving dishes or plates, the sushi was arranged on a woman’s body.
The woman, wearing only a bikini top and bottom, lay at the center of the table, with trays of sushi placed on various parts of her body.
Critics argued that using a woman’s body as a serving surface reduces her to an object and perpetuates misogynistic attitudes. One user tweeted, “Treating a human woman like a plate is kind of misogynistic,” while another called it “misogyny and objectification at its finest.”
However, some defended West’s choice by suggesting that it could be a nod to the Japanese practice of Nyotaimori, where sushi or sashimi is served on a naked woman’s body.
They maintained that when done in a respectful and artistic manner, Nyotaimori can be seen as a cultural practice rather than an act of objectification.
