However, while she fully embraces her unique style, Katie worries that her obsession with Barbie may put potential partners off.
Despite her concerns, Katie remains true to herself and refuses to let anyone or anything stop her. Now self-employed and running her own clothing business, she recalls her lifelong love for Barbie dolls, always receiving them as birthday gifts and dressing herself and her dolls in pink.
As she grew older, Katie experimented with different styles, trying to fit in and dress more “basic” and “plain.” However, she realized that she didn’t feel good or authentic in those outfits and missed wearing pink.
In 2020, during the lockdown, Katie made the decision to start expressing herself again and returned to wearing pink. She instantly felt more confident and reclaimed her individuality.
Today, Katie exclusively wears pink and spends a significant portion of her paycheck each month on pink fashion items.
Her love for the color extends beyond her wardrobe; she has decorated her car, bedroom, and home interiors entirely in pink. Her mom, Alison, shares her fondness for the color and has also embraced a pink-centric lifestyle.
With the upcoming release of the Barbie movie, Katie is even more inspired to live her Barbie dream. She plans to paint her blue car pink to match the rest of her pink-filled world. The anticipation of seeing Barbie’s style represented onscreen brings immense excitement to Katie, who believes her childhood self would be thrilled.
