Actress Hajra Yamin shed light on the staggering amounts Pakistani drama channels earn from YouTube.

Popular Pakistani drama channels have reached unprecedented heights over the past five years, with their content gaining massive popularity both locally and internationally.

The global audience for these dramas has grown significantly, thanks to the rise of social media platforms like YouTube. Iconic shows such as Ishq Murshid on Hum TV, Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum on ARY, and Kaffara on Geo have garnered millions of views per episode.

In a recent interview with YouTuber Talha Ahad, it is revealed Pakistani drama channels make an average of $8-9 million per month from YouTube alone. This figure, he noted, could be even higher depending on the channel’s reach and engagement.

However, Hajra Yamin pointed out that none of the revenue earned from YouTube is given to the artist.

YouTube, a platform known for its lucrative monetization opportunities, has become a major revenue stream for these drama channels. By uploading their content to YouTube, these channels have not only expanded their audience base but also unlocked a significant source of income.

Despite the massive earnings, the revenue generated from YouTube is not shared with the artists who contribute to the success of these dramas. This has led to growing calls from actors and other creatives for royalties, as they believe they deserve a share of the profits generated from their work.
