It seems that Shahid Kapoor might be gearing up to reprise his role as Tommy Singh in the much-anticipated sequel to Udta Punjab.
The original 2016 film, which boldly tackled the pressing issue of Punjab’s drug crisis, is getting a follow-up, and Ekta Kapoor is at the helm of this new project.
While details are still under wraps, reports indicate that Aakash Kaushik, known for his work on Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Housefull 4, has been brought on board to write and direct Udta Punjab 2. However, the makers have yet to officially confirm any specifics, leaving fans in a state of eager anticipation.
The buzz around Shahid’s potential return as the lead character is palpable. Sources suggest that Ekta Kapoor is keen to bring Shahid Kapoor back into the fold, but a final decision will hinge on the script’s completion. Given the original film’s impact, it’s no surprise that fans are hopeful for Shahid’s involvement.
Unlike its predecessor, which was directed by Abhishek Chaubey, the sequel will not continue the same storyline but will once again shine a light on Punjab’s ongoing drug problem.
