Lalit Patidar, an 18-year-old from India, has officially set the Guinness World Record for the hairiest face on a man, with a jaw-dropping 95% of his face covered in hair.
According to Guinness, Patidar’s face boasts an astonishing 201.72 hairs per square centimeter of skin, earning him the title and a place in the record books.
Patidar was born with hypertrichosis, a rare condition also known as “werewolf syndrome,” which causes excessive hair growth. With only 50 documented cases since the Middle Ages, the odds of having this condition are one in a billion.
To claim the title, Patidar traveled to Milan, Italy, where a trichologist shaved small portions of his facial hair to measure its density. The results confirmed his record-breaking status. While in Italy, Patidar also appeared on a TV program, adding a touch of international stardom to his journey.
When he learned he had officially set the world record, Patidar was overjoyed. “I am speechless, I don’t know what to say because I’m very happy to get this recognition,” he said.
Growing up with hypertrichosis wasn’t always easy for Patidar. He shared that his classmates were initially afraid of him when he started school. However, as they got to know him, their perceptions changed.
“They were scared of me, but when they started knowing me and talking to me, they understood I was not so different from them. It was just on the outside that I looked different, but I’m not different inside,” he explained.
Patidar has turned his unique appearance into a source of pride, celebrating it on social media. With 265,000 Instagram followers and 108,000 YouTube subscribers, he’s become an inspiration to many.
When asked about removing his facial hair, Patidar confidently responds, “I like how I am, and I don’t want to change my look.”
