Pakistani fashion brand Maria B has addressed a payment dispute with Turkish-Pakistani influencer Türkan Atay after she accused the label of withholding payment for a collaborative project in Turkey.
The statement from Maria B explained that they have worked with hundreds of influencers and creators. “In our 25 years, we have neither withheld payment nor retracted from our commitments,” the brand stated.
They admitted a delay in payment to Atay due to a misunderstanding and said they reached out to arrange a meeting to resolve the matter. However, they claimed Atay chose to make a “defaming reel” instead, escalating the situation.
Türkan Atay, however, stood firm on her accusations. After posting a video calling out Maria B for not paying her, she commented on various news stories covering the issue. She wrote,
Guys, I am the influencer they didn’t pay. I have screenshots as well. They tried to arrange a meeting after I shared the video, but it’s not about money anymore—it’s about self-respect.
Atay further alleged that Maria B never responded to her messages, not even once, despite her attempts to reach out.
The controversy has sparked debate online, with some supporting Maria B’s reputation as a leading Pakistani fashion label, while others back Atay, demanding transparency.
News outlets have reported Maria B’s side, labeling Atay’s actions as defamatory, but her claims of having evidence have kept the issue alive.
