The tragic passing of actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali continues to send ripples through Pakistan’s entertainment industry, with new developments shedding light on her family’s response and raising questions about the circumstances of her death.
The 32-year-old, known for her roles in ARY’s Tamasha Ghar and the 2015 film Jalaibee, was found deceased in her Karachi apartment on July 8, 2025, in an advanced state of decomposition. Now, her brother has come forward to address the reported refusal to claim her body, while also expressing suspicions of possible foul play.
Initial reports suggested that Ali’s father and brother had disowned her, with her father stating they had severed ties years ago and would not claim her remains.
However, her brother has since clarified that the family’s delay in responding was due to their mother’s overwhelming emotional distress, which led to a misunderstanding. “Our mother was in shock when the police contacted us,” he explained. “Her reaction was misinterpreted as rejection. We were devastated to learn of Humaira’s passing, and the delay was not intentional.”
He further revealed that the family had attempted to reconnect with Humaira in recent months, reaching out through mutual contacts and friends. Still, he faced challenges due to not knowing her exact whereabouts in Karachi. “We didn’t know where she was living,” he said. “We tried calling her and asking around, but no one could provide clear information. It’s heartbreaking that we only learned of her location after this tragedy.”
Adding a new dimension to the case, Ali’s brother expressed concerns about the circumstances surrounding her death, hinting at possible foul play. “Something doesn’t feel right,” he stated. “We’re waiting for the forensic report to understand what happened. If there’s any indication of wrongdoing, we will push for a thorough investigation.”
South SSP Mahzoor Ali noted that initial police findings show no signs of foul play, as the apartment was locked from the inside, but the coroner’s report is still pending to determine the cause of death.
The entertainment community continues to mourn Ali, whose vibrant presence on social media, with over 700,000 Instagram followers, and her work in modeling and acting left a lasting impact. Her unnoticed passing, discovered during a court-ordered eviction due to unpaid rent, has sparked reflection on the isolation often faced in the industry.
As the investigation continues, Ali’s family is now coordinating with authorities to claim her body and arrange her burial, seeking closure amidst their grief. Her brother’s call for answers has resonated with fans and peers, who are grappling with the loss of a beloved star.
