The mysterious death of Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali continues to grip the entertainment industry as investigators make significant strides in uncovering the circumstances surrounding her passing. The 32-year-old, known for her roles in Tamasha Ghar and the 2015 film Jalaibee, was found deceased in her Karachi apartment on July 8, 2025, in an advanced state of decomposition.
Recent updates from the ongoing probe, including forensic analysis of her mobile phone and insights into her financial struggles, are shedding new light on her final days.
According to authorities, Humaira’s mobile phone has been handed over to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) for in-depth forensic examination. Experts are working to bypass the device’s privacy locks to extract critical data, including call records, messages, and app activity, which could provide clues about her state of mind and interactions before her death.
Investigators have pieced together a timeline of Humaira’s final known movements. She was last seen leaving her Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase VI apartment on September 28, 2024, visiting Clifton around 1 PM and returning by 2 PM. After that, no one reported seeing her exit the residence. Her last social media post, shared on Instagram on September 30, 2024, featured her in an orange salwar kameez, captioned, “Classic can hardly ever go out of style!!” The post, now viral, has become a poignant reminder of her sudden disappearance.
A haunting voice message sent to her friend Dureshehwar, who was on pilgrimage in Mecca, also surfaced, in which Humaira asked for prayers for her career and well-being, hinting at her distress. Analysis of her messages revealed repeated pleas for work or job referrals, underscoring the severe financial difficulties she faced. “She was reaching out, but many didn’t take her concerns seriously,” an investigator noted, highlighting the actress’s growing isolation as work opportunities dwindled.
Adding to the mystery, authorities are probing why the odor from her decomposing body went undetected for so long. In November 2024, second-floor residents in her building reported a foul smell to the watchman, but when building owners inspected, they found no noticeable odor, and the issue was dismissed. “The smell likely weakened over time due to an open balcony door and the absence of neighbors on her floor,” an official explained, noting that the adjacent apartment was unoccupied until February 2025.
Preliminary findings suggest Humaira may have died around October 2024, with her phone’s last activity, including a message from a ride-hailing service, recorded that month. Her electricity was disconnected in October due to unpaid bills, and rusted containers and expired food in her kitchen—some dated six months prior—support this timeline. Intriguingly, investigators believe she was washing clothes at the time of the incident, possibly exiting the bathroom, colliding with an object, and falling.
