Sahir Hasan, the son of renowned actor Sajid Hasan, has been arrested in connection with the high-profile Mustafa Amir murder case.

The arrest was made during a series of raids conducted by the police in Karachi’s upscale Defense Housing Authority (DHA) area, targeting drug peddlers and addicts.

The investigation team, led by the CIA Police, apprehended at least four individuals, including Sahir Hasan, during the raids. Drugs worth an estimated Rs. 5 million, including foreign brands, were recovered from Sahir’s possession.

According to police sources, Sahir Hasan made startling confessions during the investigation, admitting to selling drugs for the past two years. He also revealed that he had supplied drugs to several individuals, including Armaghan Qureshi, the prime suspect in the Mustafa Amir murder case.

The trial court has extended the physical remand of two key accused in the Mustafa Amir abduction and murder case—Armaghan Qureshi and Sheeraz.

The court granted a five-day extension to allow investigators to decode and conduct forensic tests on 62 laptops and USBs recovered during the investigation.

During the hearing at the anti-terrorism court, a dramatic moment unfolded when the prime accused, Armaghan Qureshi, collapsed on the courtroom floor. Armaghan alleged that he had been beaten while in custody. However, the court dismissed his claims and focused on the investigation’s progress.

The court also rejected meeting requests from Armaghan’s mother, Saira, and Sheeraz’s sister, citing the sensitive nature of the case and the ongoing investigation.

In a bid to gather more evidence, the Sindh health department, under court orders, exhumed the body of Mustafa Amir on Friday to collect DNA samples. Police Surgeon Dr. Sumayya Syed confirmed that 11 samples from the body have been sent to the Sindh Forensic DNA Lab for analysis.

However, Dr. Syed noted the challenges in determining the cause of death due to the advanced state of decomposition.

“It is difficult to determine the cause of death,” Dr. Syed stated. “In the absence of fingerprints, we only have the DNA option to identify the victim and establish further evidence.”

The next hearing in the case is expected to provide further updates on the investigation, as the nation waits for justice to be served in this tragic and deeply troubling case.
