Pakistani dramas are an essential component of our showbiz industry. It has even helped revive cinema in the country (Mere Pass Tum Ho’s finale being a prime example). It’s also globally renowned for producing top-quality dramas.

While Bollywood may be ahead of us in terms of filmmaking, Pakistan has always been one step ahead of Indian dramas (step aside Star Plus and Zee).

Despite such credible and talented writers, producers, and actors, the drama industry has somewhat declined in terms of quality of content. It is not just the fans that have noticed these new trends, but also some well-known actors as well.

Here are some Pakistani actors who have expressed their frustrations with the drama industry.

Muhammad Ahmed

Muhammad Ahmed is well-known for his writing, but he can also act. People enjoy watching him onscreen these days.

However, the only reason he can be seen onscreen is that Muhammad Ahmed believes that people do not understand his writing and content, which is why he decided to sideline the writer within him.

In a recent interview, he expressed his feelings that he is not happy to do it but he has to earn a living, therefore he continues to act. Muhammad Ahmed believes today’s content and ethics have all gone downhill.

A veteran actress and sister to Bushra Ansari, Asma too is one of the celebrities who aren’t happy with the showbiz industry. Her problem stems from the misrepresentation of women her age.

Often times, we see veteran actresses in less glamorous or ‘simple’ roles. The directors want young actresses to look glamorous and good looking while ‘saas’ and mother figures to look more aged and plain.

Asma Abbas believes that older people also have stories to tell and should be given more focus in different projects.

Noman Ijaz

Noman Ijaz often refrains from sharing his opinion on social media. Plus, he is not much of a fan of interviews.

However, over time, the actor has become more vocal about his frustrations with the drama industry. His main frustration with showbiz is the kind of dramas that are being produced these days.

The actor believes that channels and stakeholders will not go far with the current formula they are following at the moment.

The reason why she has not been seen on TV for so long is due to misrepresentation of women. The actress sensed this issue long before it became prominent.
