Karan Johar shot down rumours that Alia Bhatt has been approached to play the lead in Dostana 2.
The director revealed that while the sequel of his 2008 hit, Dostana is in the pre-production stage the lead is not final. He mentioned that although ideas were being shot around, none had been finalised. When the ideas aren’t final, definitely no one has been approached for the lead role.
No Lead for Dostana 2 Cast Yet
Even after an actress is approached for the role, that does not guarantee that she will sign up for the project.

Earlier, rumors of the young actress being cast in the sequel to Karan Johar’s 2008 hit Dostana began to circulate. It should be mentioned that Alia made her debut with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year.Â

Pre-Production Begins on Dostana 2
Mumbai Mirror reported that the pre-production for the sequel of Priyanka Chopra’s Dostana featuring John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan has begun. Soon after, word got around that Alia will be playing the lead.
Previously there were rumors that Sidharth Malhotra and Jahnvi Kapoor have been cast for Dostana 2. KJo also dismissed those rumors.

It has been 11 years since Dostana was released. No official announcement has been made regarding whether the storyline of Dostana 2 will be independent of Dostana or not.
Plenty of actors have expressed an eagerness to be cast in Dostana 2, most prominently Ranveer Singh. During an episode of Koffee with Karan, Ranveer said in a joking manner that he be cast in Dostana 2 with Arjun Kapoor.
If KJo didn’t consider the offer, the audiences certainly did.
