Pakistani television star Alizeh Shah, known for her captivating performances in dramas like Ishq Tamasha, Ehd-e-Wafa, and Mera Dil Mera Dushman, is making waves not just for her acting but for her fearless response to online trolls criticizing her wardrobe choices.
The actress, who boasts over 4.3 million followers on Instagram, recently took to the platform to address the backlash over her preference for wearing sleeveless tops, shorts, and skirts, delivering a powerful message about self-expression and autonomy.
In a candid post, Alizeh set the record straight:
Let’s get one thing clear. I’ve worn sleeveless clothes, shorts, and skirts since I was a child. It’s how I was raised. My mother never forced me into outdated ideas of how a girl should dress.
The 24-year-old star didn’t hold back, pointing out that the criticism isn’t really about her outfits but about a deeper desire for control. “This isn’t about clothes. It’s about control. I’m not here to be anyone’s idea of ‘acceptable.’ I’ve worked for everything I have, and I don’t need your permission,” she wrote.
Quoting the Quran to reinforce her stance, Alizeh reminded her followers, “As the Qur’an says: ‘There is no compulsion in religion’ (2:256).” She called out the obsession with policing women’s clothing, emphasizing that it’s neither a religious nor a social duty. The actress also opened up about the emotional toll of constant scrutiny, stating, “What’s truly disturbing isn’t my appearance—it’s the obsession with tearing someone down just because they’re visible.”
While Alizeh’s bold stance resonated with many fans who praised her confidence, not everyone was supportive. Some social media users pushed back, with one commenting, “She has always been like that. When she was in school, my sister was her teacher. However, it is shameful that if you become popular, you take off your clothes.” Another remarked, “Ask your mom also to wear clothes like these if there is nothing bad in it.”
Undeterred, Alizeh stood firm, urging people to focus on their own lives instead of dictating how women should dress. Her unapologetic attitude and call for personal freedom have sparked a heated debate online, with supporters lauding her for challenging societal norms and critics doubling down on traditional expectations. One thing is clear: Alizeh Shah is not backing down, and her fierce individuality continues to make her a standout figure in Pakistan’s entertainment scene.

This is called begairti and besharmi… Not standing out firm. May Allah SWT guide us all to the straight path, Ameen, Suma Ameen!
