If there’s one thing we know for a fact, there’s no shortage of rumours on social media. There’s no shortage of speculation around the who’s who and what they’ve done. Recently, word spread that actress Amna Ilyas and Dawar Mehmood of KopyKats Production tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on 5th September.
Ilyas and Mehmood will be working together on an upcoming theatre adaptation of Haseena Moin’s classic 1982 play Ankahi. The play was delayed due to the pandemic and will now be releasing on 1st November.
After the news spread about their apparent wedding ceremony, Amna Ilyas and Dawar Mehmood took to the actress’s Instagram to release a video addressing the rumors, and honestly, we’re even more confused now.
The video starts off with Dawar gesturing towards the camera in a clearly annoyed look. He says
“To all the people spreading rumours, take this from me!”

But Amna quickly takes over and the video itself is captioned  “Excuse this brute – listen to me”:

Stopping Mehmood from reacting, Ilyas then addressed her followers saying, “Dekhen baat simple si hai, mera koi boyfriend nae hai, lekin inki bohat sari girlfriends hain.”
(See its very simple. I don’t have any boyfriend but Mehmood has many girlfriends).
If this sounds very cryptic, that’s because it is!
Ilyas then continues:
“Becharay ko puray Pakistan se death threats arae hain. Â Tou please rumours phelana band karen.” she urged.
(Sadly, he’s getting death threats from all over Pakistan. Please stop spreading rumors).
She may be mentionning the news about their marriage news. And honestly, we are not sure what to make of this.
Are Amna Ilyas and Dawar Mehmood married?
Rumors of marriage were also further fueled by the fact that back in May Amna Ilyas appeared on Amir Liaquat’s game show where she hinted that she would be getting married soon. She also said that her to-be husband at the time was also in the industry with her but that they weren’t currently working on any projects together. Despite Liaquat’s pressing, she managed to get away without mentioning who it was.
The pair does urge their fans not to listen to or spread rumors but don’t address the status of their relationship.
The video ends with the actress reminding fans that Ankahi starts on 1st November and that they should be there.
Considering both Amna and Dawar are working on Ankahi together, could this be related to the upcoming play? We’ll have to wait and see.
