Another Incident of Street Harassment in Karachi Goes Viral

A biker harassed a burka-clad woman on the streets of Karachi’s Samanabad.

A distressing incident of female harassment in Karachi’s Samanabad has come to light through a CCTV video that went viral on social media on Tuesday.

The footage shows a man riding a motorbike inappropriately touching a burka-clad woman and then quickly fleeing the scene.

The video clearly captures the face of the harasser, who is seen sexually harassing the woman before making a hasty escape. The incident has sparked outrage and concern among citizens and netizens alike, who are demanding swift action against the perpetrator.

Netizens were left shocked by incident. One user was horrified to notice that perpetrator appeared to be a maulvi as he had a beard and prayer cap on. He wrote,

A fully covered woman assaulted by a man with topi and beard. I don’t even know what to say.

This incident sheds light on the recurring issue of street harassment in the city, particularly during daylight hours when women should feel safe and secure in public spaces. Unfortunately, this is not the first such incident to be reported in Karachi recently.

In a separate incident in Gulistan-e-Johar Block 4, near Mughal Hazara Ghoat, a man attempted to rape a girl waiting outside her house.

These incidents highlight the urgent need for stricter measures to combat street harassment and ensure the safety and dignity of women in public places.

Authorities and law enforcement agencies are being urged to take prompt action to identify and apprehend the culprits involved in such reprehensible acts.
