While she often asserts she is right in the middle of the liberal and conservative spectrum, model-cum-actress Anoushey Ashraf called out how words matter.
Recently the VJ schooled colleagues on respect over calling her ‘babe’ in a cryptic message on social media. In her message, she asked her colleagues about the difference between professional and personal relations.
“Just because we worked well on a project together, doesn’t mean I am now ‘babe’ and you can hold me by the waist to take selfies at events.”
Just because we worked well on a project together doesn’t mean I’m now ‘babe’ and you can hold me by the waist to take selfies at events. We’re colleagues, NOT friends. Know the difference. Understand the concept of personal space. #rant

She then made it clear what the difference between a working professional relationship and a personal relationship is.
“We are colleagues, not friends. Know the difference [and] understand the concept of personal space.”
As usual, whenever it comes to enforcing boundaries, while some lauded the move, others didn’t take it too well.
Some Netizens asked why the VJ did not call out that person then and there.
I’m sorry but how are you supposed to do that with everyone reacting to criticism the way they do? There’s almost no space to do this without people freaking out.

Anoushey Ashraf replied with;
“It was a massive event and I didn’t want to create a ruckus. But I’m just putting it out there for people to understand the difference in the future.”

Others disagreed and asserted that not publically calling out such people is part of the problem.
If they are celebrities, highlight them. These things are taken lightly in your media industry. You all are responsible for this. I am sorry.

As for all the victim-blaming, aside from Twitterati, even fellow celeb Ushna Shah also joined the conversation with school critics. She even said that she can guess who might have triggered this reaction from Anoushey Ashraf. So is there a certain problematic personality in the biz that these women are not calling out publically?
“I have a feeling I know exactly who triggered this rant.”

What do you think? Was the host’s tweet helpful for sparking this debate on social media? Or will this not help her deter bad behavior and enforce her boundaries with other people? Let us know in the comments below.
