It shouldn’t come as a surprise to see people upset with such a statement. However, this is only a snippet as Anoushey was commenting about Malala’s name being included among the likes of Begum Raana Liaquat Ali Khan, Major Aziz Bhatti and Abdul Sattar Edhi. Here’s what she wrote:

“For many even, Abdul Sattar Edhi isn’t a hero. Same with Malala. She may not be your hero but she’s certainly someone youngsters from around the world look up to.”

Anoushey’s statement was in response to all the criticism Malala received for being included among such respected figures. What the former VJ meant was that not everyone shares the same hero and to some Malala Yousufzai is a role model.

Unfortunately, people on social media did not agree with Anoushey’s remarks and criticized her for ‘insulting’ Abdul Sattar Edhi. Anoushey responded quickly, stating how easily people misunderstood the context regarding her statement.

“You guys just read what you want to read. I wasn’t comparing them [Malala and Edhi]. Just the circumstances under which everyone is questioning her presence,” she explained.
