Anushka Sharma Accused of Hurting Sikh Community with Paatal Lok

The show gets into more controversies

Amazon Prime’s new series Paatal Lok has invited yet another controversy. Anushka Sharma, the producer of the show, is under fire for hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community.

On Monday, they were given notice from the Punjab and Haryana High Court on a petition saying the web series Paatal Lok had defamed the Sikh community.

The notice of motion was issued to the Union of India and 15 other respondents by the bench of Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi.

The petitioner has objections to episode number three titled ‘A History of Violence’ that was set in a village in Punjab. The petitioner-advocate Gurdeepinder Singh Dhillon in his statement said,

“The respondents have purposely and maliciously within intent of creating communal disharmony and caste-based clashes have shown two communities in a bad light.”

Paatal Lok Gets Into More Trouble

The show has sparked public outrage for exposing social problems and confronting taboos in India. Earlier, the team got in legal trouble with the Gorkha community for allegedly insulting Nepalis.

BJP MLA Nandkishore Gurjar also showed his discontent with Paatal Lok as his picture was used in one of its sequences.

The MLA belives that the series promotes communal disharmony and by using his picture, it has put him in the bad light. He filed a complaint against Anushka Sharma under the National Security Act.

However, he went too far with his objection and protests that he even asked Anushka’s husband and Indian cricket team captain, Virat Kohli, to divorce her for producing Paatal Lok, which is absolutely disgusting.
