Singer and songwriter, Arooj Aftab performed her hit single Udhero Na with Anoushka Shankar at the 2023 Grammy Awards in Los Angles, USA last night. The acclaimed Pakistani artist was nominated for ‘Best Global Music Performance’ as she mesmerized audiences with her soulful vocals.

Arooj Aftab may not have won her second Grammy award last night, but Pakistanis are proud to see the talented singer promote the country on a global platform.

The 2023 Grammy Awards took place last night in Los Angeles. Hollywood celebrities and international artists from all around the world showed up for the music industry’s biggest award show. Among the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Cardi B, and more, Pakistan’s very own Arooj Aftab made her presence felt during the star-studded event.

The Grammy-winning singer was nominated for the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ category, hoping to win back-to-back awards. However, this time around, her song Udhero Na lost out to Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode’s Bayethe.

Nonetheless, the 29-year-old put on a show-stealing performance as she took center stage with Anoushka Shankar to perform her hit single in front of the who’s who of the music industry.

Arooj Aftab is a US-based Pakistani singer, composer, and producer who has been breaking new ground with her soulful tunes. The 37-year-old has steadily been gaining global attention for her work that fuses various genres such as jazz, folk, minimalism, and neo-Sufi.

She has released three albums so far — Bird Under Water (2014), Siren Islands (2018), and Vulture Prince (2021) — and gained even more attention after former US president, Barack Obama, included her song Mohabbat in his 2021 summer favorites list.
