Comedian Ayaz Samoo let the cat out of the bag on the upcoming Andhera Ujala sequel Janbaaz. The former child model opened up about being cast in the cult classic’s franchise.
Being cast in Pakistan Television’s cult classic Andhera Ujala sequel Janbaaz, Ayaz Samoo was ecstatic as you’d expect.
The crime investigation drama Janbaaz is supposed to be a sequel to the PTV classic  Originally it was suspected that an Andhera Ujala reboot was in the pipeline. But Ayaz Samoo told HIPinPakistan that it was actually a sequel.

A refreshing change compared to all the reboots across the board nowadays. This didn’t take away from the difficulty of adding an installment to a cult classic.
The O21 actor revealed that director Aamir Yousuf is really switching things up with the sequel. While it will be a sit-com like the original, they opted for more outdoor shoots. He described the director as a ‘perfectionist‘.
“He’s a gem, calm and focused towards his craft. He is a perfectionist; knows his work and what he requires from his actors.”
The approach, are characters are entirely different. In a good way though as the cases are much more relevant to the current audience.
Ayaz Samoo and the Janbaaz Cast
Like the change in approach and cast, this time around the makers decided to take a more inclusive route. Rather than Punjab Police the last time around, the Andhera Ujala sequel Janbaaz is about an inclusive Sindh police. That is why the characters include Pasthun, Punjabi, Sindhi, and Urdu speaking people.
“All the characters have different lingo, personality traits and stand on their own.”

Janbaaz cast Qavi Khan and Irfan Khoosat from the original drama. Qavi Khan plays a retired officer while Irfan Khoosat is also reprising his role.
The lead cast has been switched up for the sequel, Janbaaz cast as Danish Taimoor plays SSP Jasim, who Qavi Khan’s son.

Meanwhile, Ayaz Samoo himself will play Dildaar Khan, a new character. Rashid Farooqui is their SHO and he’s Jamil Fakhri’s nephew. Other cast members include Khwaja Saleem and Irfan Motiwala
Ayaz Samoo made his debut as a child model in 2004. There on out the comedian established himself as an actor and VJ. Besides that Ayaz Samoo has also tried his hand at writing and production.
Without any formal training, Ayaz Samoo is pretty popular in most things he does. Given his previous performances in his debut film O21, also his debut telefilm was about NCCA cadets.
Andhera Ujala sequel Janbaaz release date is expected to be in mid-September. It will air on PTV and one other leading TV channel.
