In another episode of Reema Khan’s Ramzan transmission, the Lollywood veteran was joined by contemporary actress Ayeza Khan.

What could be a Ramzan transmission without some interesting tidbits thrown in? Ayeza Khan took this opportunity to provide more insight into her character ‘Mehwish‘ from Meray Paas Tum Ho.

When Reema asked the Pyarey Afzal actress about how is her life after the superhit drama, Ayeza had this to say:

I’m trying to stay humble‘.

“I want to tell you something… I don’t like to hear or talk about my success because I feel I might develop a habit of it.”

She revealed that as an actor she’s always tried to maintain a middle ground. Neither does she want to be a diva nor come across as too reserved. This might have to do with the positive experiences she’s had working in the biz.

“Humility is the only permanent thing…beauty and status fades.”

Ayeza Khan then opened up about why she took on the infamous role of ‘Mehwish‘ when other actresses wouldn’t. She reveals that this was because Nadeem Baig and Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar asked her to.

“I understand that people tend to correlate your onscreen persona with your actual self, but I considered the role because Nadeem Baig and Khalilur Rehman Qamar brought it to me.”

However, she only accepted the offer after several people reiterated similar experiences from their own lives to her.

“It was like a sign from God and I realized I had been looking at the world from a pedestal, having the perfect husband and life, when that wasn’t the case with everyone.”

As for all criticism surrounding MPTH, the Mere Mehrban actress stated that ‘Mehwish‘ wasn’t as bad as she looked on-screen, as that was an exaggeration of her character.

“When we do a serial, we obviously exaggerate certain things. And we need to ensure that the wrongdoing of a character is prominent.”

But people like Mehwish are real, and Ayeza Khan says she’s met them.

“People came to her saying, ‘I have been the Mehwish from your serial‘ and ‘I can relate with Danish so much.‘”

Circumstances pinned her as the antagonist but Mehwish wasn’t really all bad.

“I went to Nadeem bhai and told him that she wasn’t all that bad. Her circumstances may have led her astray but she wasn’t inherently evil.”

Well, what do you think?
