Former US President Barack Obama and wife Michelle Obama have made their Hollywood debut with a documentary film ‘American Factory.’
This is the first film that has been produced by Obama’s production company Higher Ground and Netflix.
Released on Wednesday, the documentary is getting positive reviews from critics. Many are calling it ‘compelling and timely.’

American Factory Plot
The story revolves around the events after a Chinese company took over an abandoned General Motors plant in Ohio.
It’s about the lives of thousands of workers, who lost their jobs in the 2008 recession. Some of them were later hired by the Chinese company to make automotive glass.
Obama described it as appealing and connecting on his Twitter post.

“We want people to be able to get outside of themselves and experience and understand the lives of somebody else.”
Michelle, on the other hand, was quite taken by the opening scenes of workers on the factory floor.

Obama’s Higher Ground Productions has signed a multi-year contract with Netflix. Under the deal, they will produce, curate, and acquire content for distribution on the streaming service.
