Junaid Jamshed needs no introduction. The engineer with amazing vocals may be no longer with us on this world, but his contributions to music have transformed all of us who were lucky to see him perform.

The singer produced 80s tracks, rock albums and even national songs. With all the options, its hard to put your finger on the best Junaid Jamshed songs. It’s even harder to compile a playlist of his best 10 tracks. So we did that for you. We’ll throw in some of his recent works too.

1. Naya Pakistan

Before his death in a fatal plane crash, the singer got together with a bunch of renowedn Pakistan artists from the 80s for this track. This is one of the first anthems for the political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, in case the name doesn’t give it away.

Despite the mix of voices, it is Junaid’s vocals which stand out. Based on BBC playlists, this is his most listened to track.

2. Dil Dil Pakistan

The national song is what elevated the singer to international stardom. The track has many covers and remixes but nothing beats the original.

3. Gore Rang Ka Zamana

The band managed to sell off a pluralistic picture of Pakistan in the music video for this song. The track is both singing praise while also trying to suggest that be more open to beauty in all its colors and forms.

4. Aitebar

Most pop songs can be classified in one of three types. Most are love songs or break up songs. Aitebar is both but also something more. The sound is more reflective and emotive. Maybe this was the first emo/scene song ever.

5. Do Pal Ka Ye Jeewan Hai

The track has shifted from the usual 80s classic rock vibe to a more indie and alt rock jam. This may not have been intended as a tribute anthem but that’s what it has become.

6. Sanwali Saloni

Another track that managed to integrate the pluralistic side of Pakistan in the music video. The track itself appreciates and challenges the mainstream idea of beauty.

7. Us Rah Par

A tale of unrequited love, we’ve all been there. No wonder everyone loves this song.

8. Mera Dil Nahi Available

A self worth anthem that will remain relevant through the ages. The song still applies today as much as it did decades ago.

9. Ankhon Ne Ankhon Ko

Both Junaid Jamshed and Vital Signs had a knack for integrating cultural tid-bits into their modern music. Be it the picturization, an instrument or just a rift.

10. Tu Na Ayay Gi Na He Chain Aye Ga

Another break up ballad. Like the track is stuck between a love-hate phase or a post break-up one, and so is the music video. The visuals make this one of the best Junaid Jamshed songs ever.

Comments

  1. No doubt he (JJ) lives in the heart of people.. When it comes to his solo melodious songs.. Just don’t forget to mention in his top songs list… I remember Ye shaam phir nhi aaye gy…, hum rahe rahi… Tum dur thay… Instead of mentioning top notch national songs with his solo hits.. One might create a separate patriotic hit list songs of VS/JJ… like.. Maula… Yehi zameen… Hum hain pakistani with dil dil Pakistan as always on top.

  2. Highly disagree with you on most of the songs that you titled as BEST SONGS OF JUNAID bhai….there are so many more to be listed and to me its unjustice….

How dare you miss the awesome masterpiece “Tum Duur Thay” which you didn’t bother to mention in the list…Naya Pakistan is not sung by Junaid bhai rather Salman Ahmed..
