BLT — LENS Takes a Trip Down to Flavor Town at Islamabad’s Popular Eatery [Review]

This little haute cuisine in the heart of Islamabad is a dreamy fine-dining experience.

Whoever said Islamabad lacks flavor obviously hasn’t been to BLT. From its succulent beef patties to the iceberg lettuce and ripe and fresh tomatoes in between; here’s everything you need to know about this lovely little haute cuisine in the heart of Islamabad.

If you have ever been to Islamabad and not visited Gol Market; a glamorous food hub in the heart of Islamabad, you’re seriously missing out. The area features some of the most trending gourmet restaurants. All of them fiercely compete against each other to entice foodies and food mongers. One of the places that recently caught my eye was BLT.

The first thing that appealed to me was its ‘less is more’ minimalistic white design with glass walls and high ceilings. The serene outdoor patio, lit with enchanting fairy lights offers a relaxing environment for foodies to enjoy an evening of fine dining under a starry night, away from all the shor sharaba.

“What would you like, sir?” the dreaded question that has befuddled many foodies.

It is one thing to decide what you want to eat when your mother’s making dinner but BLT takes it up a notch. With a wide variety of dishes that are guaranteed to make you salivate as if in a Pavlovian experiment, the restaurant offers a wide variety of options ranging from Italian, and fast food to the Mediterranean and so much more.

Thankfully, the waiter guided me, picking out the crème de la crème from their menu. So, for starters, I will be trying out BLT’s Almond Crusted Chicken with Loaded Fries. For the main course, we have a Crispy Fillet Burger and Chimichurri Beef Steak with a glass of Peach Lemon Blast. And for dessert, we have a mouth-watering Salted Caramel Popcorn Brownie

Instead of waiting for the order and enjoying the ambience, I decided to visit the kitchen and meet the two chefs who were busy preparing my meal.

Peach Lemon Blast

A perfect summer drink to freshen you up, especially with that fresh distinctive “minty kick”, this tangy peach and lemon drink was a delight.

Almond Crusted Chicken with Loaded Fries

This starter could’ve easily been a main dish, but it’s easy to see why it isn’t – I devoured them within minutes.

The crusted chicken strips with cheddar sauce are rich in flavour. And the crispy fries doused with cheese are finger-licking good. No seriously.

Crispy Fillet Burger

The first main dish is a crumb-fried chicken burger. The juicy fillet is oozing with deliciousness, courtesy of spicy garlic chilli sauce teeming with fresh tomatoes, lettuce and cheese.

Chimichurri Beef Steak

This delicious fillet mignon steak puts the BEEF in BLT! Grilled to perfection, the steak is served on a bed of roasted potatoes with a South American-style chimichurri salsa on the side.

Time to dig in!

 

At this point, I was stuffed and couldn’t go on. That is until I saw my dessert…

Salted Caramel Popcorn Brownie

What a way to close the show! Another one of BLT’s homemade dishes, this mouth-watering chocolate brownie was love at every bite.

Topped with fresh caramelized popcorn and a chocolate caramel sauce, BLT’s salted caramel brownie is a MUST-HAVE dessert.

So, if you’re in the mood for an evening of fine-dining under a starry night with family, friends or a date, BLT is the place to be.
