Breaking: Pakistani Cinemas Are Reopening with Tenet! [Update]

Good news for cinema goers!

TENET

Christopher Nolan’s much-anticipated film Tenet enjoyed a strong debut overseas even during a pandemic. Reviews are pouring in, and so far we have only heard good things about it.

But we also have great news for all the movie lovers out here in Pakistan. According to Entertainment Pakistan, the sci-fi film is releasing in Pakistani theaters on September 4.

Earlier, it was reported that Tenet will not be released in Pakistan as the country was still under a lockdown due to COVID-19.

“We were importing Tenet, but due to closure of cinemas, we postponed our decision. However, we will think of importing it again after cinemas reopen. First, we will have to see the situation of the cinema market after it reopens though,” said an official from HKC Entertainment.

As COVID-19 cases significantly dropped in Pakistan, cinemas are reopening this month as per official notification. However, they will have to follow strict SOPs.

Christopher Nolan’s previous movies have been a huge success in Pakistan and with the release of Tenet, we can hope that it will revive the cinemas after a prolonged hiatus.

The Warner Bros film released internationally on August 26 and generated a grand opening of $53 million. The film was launched in 41 different countries but had the strongest start in the UK, where it made $7.1 million.

This weekend, the John David Washington and Robert Pattinson starrer will release in the U.S., Russia, China and Pakistan.

Update Screening of Tenet Gets Delayed

According to the latest update, the screening has been postponed due to the flooding caused by monsoon rains in Karachi and various other regions of Sindh. The distributor has clarified that now it has been decided to release the film on 18th September.
