BTS Jin’s ‘The Astronaut’ Declared the Best K-Pop Song of the Year by ‘Teen Vogue’

He did ARMY proud with his last song.

Kim Seokjin, aka Jin, of the world-famous South Korean band BTS, rrecently released his solo song, The Astronaut with Coldpla,  as a goodbye to ARMY before enlisting in the military in December. The song was recently selected as the ‘Song of the Year’ by Teen Vogue — a US-based online publication for teenagers.

The Astronaut was released on 28 October, and had 4.9 million domestic streams and 44,000 downloads in its first tracking week. It also gave Jin his first solo entry on the US Billboard Hot 100, and made it to number 51 on the chart issue on 12 November.

He also got several nominations for the Gaon Chart Music Awards, Seoul Music Awards, and Hanteo Awards as a result of the song’s enormous success.

The Astronaut is about his affection and connection with his fans, ARMY, and addresses themes of connection and love.

Jin has co-written and released three solo tracks with BTS — Awake (2016), Epiphany (2018), and Moon (2020), all of which have charted on South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart. 

Big Hit Entertainment spotted Jin because of his good looks, and he debuted with BTS in June 2013 with the release of their first single, No More Dream.
