Messi Breaks World Record for ‘Most-Liked Instagram Photo’

But the 🥚 is unconvinced and has a question about ⚽.

Legendary footballer, Lionel Messi, no longer has any soccer competitions left to win after the FIFA World Cup 2022 and is now smashing other social media records as well. He has just broken the record for the most-liked Instagram post, with more than 68,530, 310 likes.

He overtook even popular influencer and singer, Bella Poarch, who has a record 60 million likes on her TikTok video.

However, this isn’t the only record that the picture of Messi has broken. It’s also the most-like post across all social media platforms, surpassing The Egg’s world record, which was 57 million likes.

The Egg’s Instagram story read:

4 years ago we set out on a mission, 9 days later we made internet history. Together Today leomessi has taken the crown (for now) but I’m still left with one question…

Continuing the story, The Egg wrote,

Who’s the greatest of all time? cristiano or leomessi?

It then told its followers to vote in its comment section.

Lionel Messi has long been regarded as one of the greatest players in football history and his Instagram post is proof that many people were overjoyed to see him finally add the World Cup to his iconic record.

Mark Zuckerberg also acknowledged Messi’s record and revealed another of his own: Whatsapp set a record for “25 million messages per second” during the World Cup Final.

That’s the power of global events and the internet for you!

Moreover, after winning the FIFA World Cup, Messi gained over 405 million Instagram followers, making him the second most-followed celebrity on the social media platform.
