BTS’s RM, V, Jungkook and Jimin Officially Prepares For Military Enlistment

BIGHIT MUSIC has released a statement regarding the military enlistment process.

BTS, the biggest band in K-pop and one of the world’s hottest contemporary music stars, will be forced into hiatus through 2024 and much of 2025 after it was confirmed on Wednesday that its remaining four band members — RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook — will imminently enlist in the Korean military.

The four follow Jin, who enlisted in December last year, J-Hope (April), and Suga, who have already begun their mandatory military service.

South Korean boy band BTS’ agency, BIGHIT MUSIC, has recently made an announcement stating that the remaining four members of the K-pop group, including RM (Kim Namjoon), Jimin, V (aka Kim Taehyung), and Jungkook have begun the process of their military enlistment.

Officially released on Weverse, the statement reads,

Hello. This is BIGHIT MUSIC. We would like to inform our fans that RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have initiated the military enlistment process. The artists are preparing to fulfill their military service duties. We will inform you of further updates in due course. We ask you for your continued love and support for RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook until they complete their military service and safely return. Our company will spare no effort in providing support for our artists. Thank you.

Since Jin’s move nearly a year ago, the band has already been winding down toward hiatus and band members expanding their solo careers. All seven members of the globe-trotting band have entered the Billboard charts on their own.

Jimin dropped his Production Diary documentary — about making his mini-album Face — in late October, Jung Kook dropped LP Golden earlier this month, V released project Layover in September, and RM dropped LP Indigo in December 2022.

For the unversed, all Korean men between the ages of 18 and 28 are supposed to serve mandatorily in the military service for 20 months.
