Comedian Umer Sharif is Making a New Movie!

He’s casting his son as the lead.

One of the most successful Pakistani comedians is now set to make his own feature film. Umer Sharif has directed his own films before, and he returns as a director after a long hiatus from the biz.

The comedian is also a television presenter, actor, writer, composer, producer, and director. Then he might as well spearhead a film. He also penned the script.

Details about Umer Sharif’s new film

Based on reports by Entertainment.pk, Umer Sharif says that he’s geared up to direct a romantic comedy. He has already decided to cast his own son Jawad Sharif in the lead alongside a newcomer as the female lead.

Previously 90s era PTV drama directors Zulfiqar Sheikh and Tasmeena Sheikh have also cast their daughter in Succh. They waited many years to make the film.

Sharif will also be seen in a pivotal role in the film. He mentioned that he had previously signed prominent Indian actor Paresh Rawal for a comedic role.

However, when tensions between India and Pakistan heightened, India imposed a ban prohibiting Indian artists from working with anyone remotely Pakistani.

Now the comedian hopes to cast someone from Pakistan for this role. The filmmaker is headed to Lahore, to find an artist for that role.

EPK speculates Pakistani actor Sohail Ahmed will be approached for the role.

“Sohail Ahmed resides in Lahore and the characteristics Umer Sharif is looking for coincide with Sohail Ahmed’s abilities.”

The film’s shooting will commence in December. So far the film’s music has also been completed.

Umer Sharif has previously made six films including Mr 420, Mr. Charlie and Miss Fitna.
