Alia Bhatt really caught everyone’s eye with her debut production Darlings. The actor that played our ‘antagonist’ Vijay Varma got quite a bit of hate. Even his mother expressed concerns.
While Shefali Shah and the Highway actress received praise for their characters, Vijay Varma, the abusive husband in the project, generated a lot of love and hate. While audiences love the authenticity of his portrayal, he might have done too good a job that people now hate him for the character.
However, his mother’s feedback is what mattered most as she worried about his marriage. Speaking to ANI, the 36-year-old actor opened up about the feedback he’s received from his mother.
“I am getting all kinds of reactions after the release of Darlings; some are saying we hate Hamza, some are praising my performing skills, but the funniest has been my mom. She watched the film and called me in panic. She was worried that no one would marry her son now. I get where she was coming from, but I had such a good laugh after hearing her reaction.”
Concerned that people would no longer be able to distinguish the actor from the character in Darlings, his mother worried that no one would want to marry him now. Vijay Sharma shared how he had to calm his mother down. However, even he doesn’t know if this might become a problem or not.
“Secretly, I am also hoping it doesn’t,” he concluded.
After his breakout role in Zoya Akhtar’s 2019 film Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, Vijay Varma has landed one impressive role after another. His works include highly acclaimed projects such as Ghost Stories, Baaghi 3, SHE, and Mirzapur.
