Like most Pakistanis, Armeena Rana Khan has a fear of the ‘chipkali.‘ The lizard (also known as a gecko) is not a favorite in these parts of the world.
However, Shaniera Akram is preaching tolerance for the little critter. Now, this might have escalated to a full-blown feud.
What happened here?
It all started when Armeena Khan posted an image of a gecko saying she never thought she’d have to deal with this, but yet she is.
Soon afterward Shaniera Akram stepped in to defend the little guy, voicing how she does not understand the fear of this little lizard.
“I don’t get it, Pakistanis have lived through terrorism, wide spread disease, horrific natural disasters, political unrest, famine, and poverty. Yet you see one little Gecko and completely lose your shit!”

Shaniera Akram added that since she’s from Australia and she knows what critters are harmless and when to worry.
“Gecks are innocent lizards,”
Guys, Geckos 🦎 are innocent lizards. They watch over us, eat our dengue mosquitoes and make malaria their dinner. Don’t hate them, they are our friends. Trust me, I’m from Australia, when there is a creature you have to worry about I will tell you

Plenty of people didn’t agree with this point of view but took it in good humor.
You should see us when we encounter a cockroach…. All hell break loose and there is screaming and calling of a nearby brother for help!😜

Gecko is such a polite name for a 'Chipkli' that is a national foe 😄

Others felt this was an attempt to bash people with a phobia of creepy crawlies. This point might have something to do with Armeena Khan deleting her tweet.

You are supposed to cover food items in kitchen properly rather killing lizards , there might be something else to infect food if you don’t cover properly

The Janaan actress was of the same opinion that Shaniera was bashing her over a phobia. She pointed out how bashing any phobia would be just as unkind.
““Phobias” are REAL & NO-ONE has the right to gaslight, patronise or bash you for having them. One person’s red nose and a wig could be another persons fear, ask any COULROPHOBE.”

The actress seems really put off by Shaniera Akram’s comments. Her fans seem to share her opinion.

One Netizen even added that there was no need to tweet something you don’t want public commentary on.
But there was no need to tweet that.

We hope both Shaniera Akram and Armeena Khan recognize that social media does tend to have a habit of making words getting lost in translation. Here’s to hoping they realize it is no big deal.
