In a world where the good coexists with bad, good humor coexists with lame comedies. And when it comes to lame comedies, Bollywood has been securing first place in the league for a quite a while now.
Filmmakers all over the world have been making an effort to raise awareness through this entertainment medium. But with the Indian film industry, we have seen some extremely absurd movies that do not make sense. Remember the 2008 PeeCee movie Love Story 2050? Yeah, we are talking about films like these.
In a totally bizarre scenario, an Indian filmmaker has ‘claimed’ that the Oscar-winning South Korean movie Parasite is actually a rip off of his movie.

Parasite vs random Indian Movie
Just last week, director Bong Joon Ho took home four Academy Awards including the ‘Best Original Screenplay’. And with that came accusations of plagiarism from an unexpected region of the world.
Indian film producer P.L Thenappan, who mostly works for Tamil language films, alleged that Parasite is a plagiarized version of his 1999 movie Minsara Kanna.
According to news reports, he also announced to file lawsuit against the South Korean filmmakers for ‘lifting the plot of his film’.
“With the help of an international lawyer, I will be filing a case against the makers of Parasite. They have lifted the plot from my film Minsara Kanna. When they find out that some of our films have been inspired by their films, they file cases so we can also do that,” said P.L Thenappan.
On the other hand, the director of Minsara Kanna said that he is happy that his film got International recognition.
“Even though Minsara Kanna served as an inspiration, I am happy that Parasite has received an Oscar. As for filing a case, the decision rests on the producer.”
The ‘evidence’ so far
All that being said, Indian critics have refuted the claims of ‘plagiarism’ because both the films are different. Here are the differences:
Parasite is a black comedy movie that focuses on the struggles of a poor family and also emphasizes the impact of capitalism.
Whereas, Minsara Kanna revolves around a wealthy boy (Vijay), who works at the home of a businesswoman. Vijay’s primary focus in this film is to succeed in love.
