Recently an old clip of the famous Hollywood action star Jean-Claude Van Damme surfaced. In the clip, he speaks about his ‘Muslim diet’ inspired by the Muslim Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). You heard that right!

The Blood Sport actor is known for his incredible physical health. He’s among the initial performers that led to a wave of actors doing their own stunts and martial artists being cast in action movies.

Van Damme became a household name in the 80s and 90s with films like the Kickboxer franchise, Lionheart, the Universal Soldier franchise, Cyborg, Death Warrant, Double Impact, etc.

Van Damme’s Diet

In his 2016 interview with a Dubai based Arab television broadcaster MBC, he spilled the tea on his incredible fitness. The actor shared how he follows a ‘Muslim diet’.

“Look at the Muslims. Bread, almond, apple… Of course Arabic people don’t eat horse. But I’m saying even meat, not too much eating meat. Not good. Once a week maybe maximum. And then vegetables, hummus. All good Arabic food. Middle-East. Like in the old times.”

The Kickboxer star then praised Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), saying that he was a smart man who knew what the human body would need in the future.

“Read, and you discover the Muslim are lots of good things. Very smart Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He knew what’s good for the future, about the body. So look at that. Don’t ask me and, believe me, you have everything there.”

He stated that his diet consists of all ‘good Arab foods’, adding how he steers clear of steroids.

The actor was cast as an antagonist in Expendables 2 in 2012. Recently he was seen in Kickboxer: Retaliation.

“Steroids, very bad… Vitamins, good…. You eat good, you sleep good. If you eat meat and chicken, maybe once a week…”

Even then, the action star performed many of his own stunts.
