Did Zameer Ansari Rip Off Emirates’ Latest Ad? [Video]

Would you call it a ‘copy’ or an ‘inspiration’?

Zameer Ansari

Zameer Ansari is one of oldest barbecue houses of Karachi and they have certainly provided their customers with incredible food and services. The restaurant, however, is under the radar for allegedly copying the marketing idea of Emirates for its latest ad.

At the beginning of August, Emirates took its marketing to new heights, and quite literally. They released an ad filmed on top of the world’s tallest building, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, instantly creating a huge buzz on social media.

The 30-second video features Nicole Smith-Ludvik, a professional skydiver and stunt woman, dressed as an Emirates cabin crew member. Standing 2,722 feet above the ground atop the world’s tallest skyscraper. In her hand, she holds a series of placards that read:

“Moving the UAE to the UK Amber list has made us feel on top of the world. Fly Emirates. Fly better.”

At first, we can’t see where Nicole is standing, but when the camera soon zooms out, she is revealed to be standing on top of the Burj Khalifa, with the wind howling around her.

Zameer Ansari responds to allegations

It seems that the marketing team of Zameer Ansari was truly inspired by Emirates and decided to create a similar video to announce that they are resuming rooftop dining service at their North Nazimabad branch.

One of their employees can be seen holding placards that read:

“Since 1984, Zameer Ansari has been on the top of the BBQ league. Now, we’re back! At the top of North Nazimabad.”

As the camera zooms out, viewers realize that she was actually standing at the top of the restaurant. Have a look:

Netizens were quick to point out that the BBQ joint had ripped off Emirates’s latest ad. But, rather than labeling it as an imitation, Zameer Ansari would like to say that it was actually inspired by Emirates. Replying to an allegation, the restaurant replied:

“Proudly made in Pakistan.”
