In only 18 days, the Urdu dubbed version of the show Diriliş: Ertuğrul hit 100 million views on YouTube. Since then, Pakistanis and Turks have established a close relationship. With more and more fans appreciating the contents of the show, actors like Engin Altan Düzyatan have expressed their gratitude for the love they’re receiving from Pakistani fans.
Earlier Engin Altan, who played the role of Ertugrul in the show, took to Instagram to thank his fans from Pakistan.
I love you, Pakistan. Thank you for watching us, I hope I can come to meet you all one day.
Other celebrities who were a part of the hit historical series also showed their love for fans in the country. Mehmet Bozdag, who is the screenwriter of Diriliş: Ertuğrul, opines that Muslims should come together to work not just for politics but also for arts and culture.
I am surprised that we did not make any collaborations till this day because we call each other brother countries.
However, we have never signed a deal in the field of culture and arts. So then where is the fellowship?
In a recent interview with BBC Asian Network, Engin Altan spoke about the success surrounding this show. He said he anticipated that the show was going to be a memorable one, but didn’t realize how successful it was going to be.
When we were filming, we knew from the beginning that it was going to be a memorable series. However, even this much attention? Even I didn’t imagine. We are very grateful.
He said he knows that Turkey has attracted a lot of attention because of Ertugrul.
We know for a fact that Turkish popularity increased after the TV series, which is great news. We are really glad.
Addressing the fact that Ertugrul has become hit in Pakistan, Engin said that the people of Turkey and Pakistan enjoy well-crafted stories. He said,
I think both Turkish people and Pakistani people love well-crafted stories. Turkish series are successful at conveying a touching sense of drama to the audience.
He also explained how he loves the character that he played on the show.
I love Ertuğrul Ghazi’s vision, strength, purpose in life and all of his values. He is an admirable person. I’m really happy that I could portray his life.
